Primary Election Tuesday, June 2, 2020

Election Mail Ballot Drop off Place and Time:

Countywide Mail Ballot Election: Drop Off Ballot time during posted business hours and on Election Day from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM at the Prairie County Courthouse

Absentee Applications Accepted:

In the Clerk and Recorder’s Office until 12:00 PM Noon on Monday, June 1, 2020.

Election Results:

Will be posted on the Secretary of State website.

Public Testing of AutoMARK Machine:

June 1, 2020 in the Clerk and Recorder’s office

Notice of Mail Ballot Count:

Mail Ballots will be publicly counted on Election Day starting at 4:00 PM at the Clerk & Recorder’s Office, 217 W Park Str., Terry, MT 59349 as specified in 13-15-201, MCA, by the following methods:

[x] Hand Counting

[x] By Election Judges appointed to count ballots

[x] While the Election Office is Open 7:00 AM – 8:00 PM

*Any person observing the procedures of the count must take the oath provided in 13-15-112(4), MCA. The ballot count will continue after the Election Office is closed, as needed.

Notice of Voting System Exhibition and Ballot Layout:

Please note that the county’s voting systems are on public exhibition at Prairie County Courthouse from May 4, 2020 through June 2, 2020.  Diagrams of the voting system(s) and ballot arrangement and instructions on voting available in link above.

Primary Voting Instructions

  • Select the party ballot the you wish to vote.

    • You may only vote one party ballot in a primary per 13-10-301, MCA.

    • Discard the two (2) ballots that will not be voted on.

  • Completely fill in the oval for each race that you wish to vote on using a black or blue pen.

  • Seal your voted ballot in the ballot secrecy envelope.

  • Seal your secrecy envelope inside the return envelope.

  • Read and sign the Voter's Affirmation on the return envelope.

    • Your signature must match the signature on file.

    • Failure to sign will invalidate your ballot.

    • Do not sign for another person even with P.O.A.

  • Return your ballot by mail or in person. NO POSTAGE REQUIRED if mailed.

Prairie County was formed in February of 1915 from part of Custer County, Dawson County, and Fallon County. The county seat is located in Terry (the only incorporated town in the county), other communities include Fallon and Mildred. The Courthouse is located at 217 West Park St. in Terry.
